The Humble Poets' Open Mic will be at The Stacks Coffeehouse on the last Sunday of each month, 4:00-6:00pm.
The featured reader for November is Diego Giovanni.
Diego is a Chicano poet and performer originally from South Central Los Angeles, now based in Portland, Oregon. Deeply influenced by the voices of Miguel Piñero, Jimmy Santiago Baca, Pablo Neruda, and Nikki Giovanni, his work blends political urgency with lyrical intimacy. Diego’s poetry addresses the struggles of Black and Brown communities, the weight of silence, and the complexity of love in a broken world. He is a co-founder of Boca Ardiente, a bilingual open mic in Portland. @BocaArdiente was created to give those who feel they arent heard in their own language a place to express themselves freely. Known for his raw delivery and unapologetic voice, Diego writes because silence is no longer an option.
February’s Featured Reader is Diego Giovanni.
