Into the Woods: Tales from Three Pacific Northwest Writers

Join Oregon and Washington authors Shilo Niziolek, Remy Nakamura, and Catherine Broadwall as they share readings of poetry and fiction. Book signings will follow!

Shilo Niziolek, Remy Nakamura, & Catherine Broadwell

Shilo Niziolek is a 2024 YA Lambda Literary Fellow and a Scholarship recipient for the 2025 Community of Writers workshop. She is the author of Wound (forthcoming in 2027 with Lit Fox Books) and Unwilding (forthcoming with Cornerstone Press in 2027) as well as Little Deaths, Pigeon House, Fever, and atrophy. Her work has appeared in Juked, Phoebe Journal, West Trade Review, and Pork Belly Press, among others. Shilo is a writing and literature instructor at Clackamas Community College and the co-founder and Editor-in-Chief of the literary magazine Scavengers,housed with Querencia Press. 

Remy Nakamura is a queer author, activist and trail runner. He writes dark, weird, and hopeful fiction. His stories can be found in Escape Pod and Pseudopod magazines, and many anthologies. He has a Masters in Genre Writing from Edinburgh Napier University. He is a graduate of the Clarion West Writers Workshop and serves on their Board. He is also a former Director at Large for the Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers Association. He grew up in Japan, Greece and the San Francisco Bay Area and currently lives in Portland with his spouse and three cats.

Catherine Broadwall is the author of Aftermath (Girl Noise Press, 2026), Water Spell (Cornerstone Press, 2025), Fulgurite (Cornerstone Press, 2023), Shelter in Place (Spuyten Duyvil, 2019), and other collections. Her writing has appeared in Bellingham Review, Colorado Review, Mid-American Review, and other journals. She is the winner of the 2023 Paula Svonkin Creative Arts Award and the 2020 COG Poetry Award, as well as a finalist for the poetry categories of the 2021 Mississippi Review Prize and 2021 Pinch Literary Awards.
